The Logo
PPCfR commissioned Indigenous artist Susan Naden to design a logo for the group. It was to reflect Indigenous and non-Indigenous people
coming together and the Port Phillip area with its land, sea and parks and resulted in the two figures surrounded by
black, brown and white-coloured 'hands' that are often used as a symbol of reconciliation, and colours of the land, sea and parks.

HISTORY
Port Phillip Citizens for Reconciliation (PPCfR)
is a voluntary not-for-profit community group.
It began in 1997 at a public meeting at St Kilda Town Hall attended by hundreds of people including Elders, Indigenous community members, politicians, councillors, musicians and the general public in response to widespread local interest in Reconciliation.

We meet every month on the third Tuesday of the month at 6.30 pm at the South Melbourne Community Centre, 1 Ferrars Place, Sth Melb.

Mission
Reconciliation is a national process promoting unity and respect between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and the wider community. Reconciliation promotes justice and equity for all Australians.
